CD62P is a 140-kDa transmembrane glycoprotein also known as P-Selectin.P-Selectin is stored in the alpha granules of platelets and the Weibel-Palade vesicles of endothelial cells and is rapidly translocated to the plasma membrane upon activation. In the inflammatory response, P-Selectin is thought to mediate the initial adhesion interactions of neutrophils and monocytes with the endothelium; during hemostasis, activated platelets interact with neutrophils and monocytes.
