FGF2 Overview

Basic fibroblast growth factor (FGF basic), also known as bFGF, FGF2, or FGF- β, It is a member of the fibroblast growth factor family. During the process of wound healing and tumor development in normal tissues, heparan sulfate degrading enzyme activates FGFbasic to mediate angiogenesis. In addition, human adipocytes can synthesize and secrete FGFbasic, and its concentration is related to BMI in blood samples. Research has shown that low levels of FGF basic play an important role in the occurrence of excessive anxiety. In addition, FGFbasic is an important component of human embryonic stem cell culture medium and a necessary factor for maintaining the undifferentiated state of cells. FGFbasic, together with BMP4, can promote the differentiation of stem cells into the mesodermal lineage. Compared to untreated stem cells, stem cells treated with BMP4 and FGFbasic typically differentiate into more osteoblasts and chondrocytes.
